Coronary Anatomy and Stent

A coronary stent is a tube with slots mounted to a collapsed balloon catheter. When the balloon is inflated, the stent expands against the interior wall of the coronary artery. After the balloon has been deflated and removed, the artery will remain open, allowing blood to flow freely.
