GO RED DAY
In support of the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women campaign, CCM participates by encouraging staff to dress in red attire and decorate the office. National Go Red for Women day occurs annually on the first Friday in February and promotes cardiovascular disease awareness for women. AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION'S HEART WALK
Cardiovascular Consultants of Maine is a proud supporter of the American Heart Association’s annual Heart Walk. Every May, staff, physicians, and their families participate in the 3 ½ mile walk around Portland’s Back Bay. Other staff members distribute water at a Hydration Station. This event is always a success and helps to raise thousands for cardiovascular disease prevention.
GOLF TOURNAMENTS
Several of our physicians enjoy participating in annual golf tournaments to raise money for cardiac services throughout the state of Maine.
WOMEN'S WELLNESS EXPO
In May, Cardiovascular Consultants was featured at the Women’s Wellness Expo at Goodall Hospital in Sanford, Maine. The event was attended by more than 160 venders and thousands of women from all over New England. A team of employees from CCM staffed a booth at the event. They took the blood pressures and oxygen levels of attendees and also provided them with information on cardiovascular disease prevention. Research Coordinator Brenda Glasgow, R.N. also spoke on behalf of prevention of heart disease in women during the event.
TAKE IT TO HEART
In August 2007, an Open House was held at the Scarborough office to kick off the start of a new patient education program. Cardiovascular Consultants has partnered with Hannaford Supermarkets and their Guiding Stars program to encourage patients to take control of cardiovascular disease. Patients were given toolkits filled with heart-healthy recipes, shopping guides, and a wealth of information on cardiovascular disease awareness and prevention. This program has continued and grown over the past 2 years. All new cardiovascular patients receive this toolkit. The toolkit may also be downloaded.
